Match Group Hires New Chief Human Resources Officer

Match Group has announced the hiring of Thomas Gaissmaier as Chief Human Resources Officer.

Gaissmaier will be based at the online dating company’s office in New York City and is due to assume the role on 30th September.

His new responsibilities see him leading Match Group’s Human Resources functions, such as talent efforts, company culture and inclusion strategies, across its global portfolio.

Match Group CEO Mandy Ginsberg said of the new hire: “As we conducted our search for a new Chief Human Resources Officer, it became very clear that Thomas was exactly what we’re looking for as we expand our portfolio and footprint across Asia and the Middle East.

“I know Thomas is eager to roll up his sleeves and help us scale our talent efforts, prioritize employee retention and elevate our diversity and inclusion strategies — all while streamlining these efforts to be more effective for every brand on a global basis.”

Gaissmaier added that he is “incredibly excited” to be joining Match Group and is looking forward to working with its number of “iconic” dating brands.

His most recent experience was working with 21st Century Fox, where he was instrumental in organising a high-profile merger with the Walt Disney Company.

Throughout 2019, Match Group has been upping its focus on Asia. It most recently looked to make an impact on the matrimony market with Pairs Engage, which aims to get Japanese singles married within 12 months.

Match Group’s owner IAC is rumoured to be planning a spin-off for the online dating company, which would see it stand as its own independent business.
