New ‘FlashNote’ Feature Lets happn Users Message Before Matching

happn is in the process of testing a brand new feature that will allow users to send short messages to other people before they’ve matched with them.

‘FlashNote’ allows members to be personal from the very beginning, by picking out something out on the other profile and sending a message that relates to it. The messages can refer to a picture, something in their profile description or the location where they crossed paths.

Users can choose to come up with their own note or take one of the pre-written suggestions.

Julie Prieur, happn’s Head of Product, explained in a statement: “The first message sent is often the one that makes the difference and decides whether or not the relationship will be taken further.

“With the ‘FlashNote’ feature, we want to give our users a new way to communicate on the app. It allows them to be more proactive and have a bit more influence over their destiny.”

The feature is currently being tested in a small number of regions, with plans to officially launch it internationally at some point in the coming weeks.

Last month, the dating released a new European video campaign to highlight how singles are able to meet people that they saw in real life. Extensive computer-generated imagery was then used to replicate the explosion of emotion and excitement when a connection is made for the first time.
