In their 17th year of operations, SingleMuslim.com has hit a landmark 1m UK users. The platform has over 2m active users worldwide.
Over 31% of British Muslims have used SingleMuslim.com, at over 50,000 marriages have been attributed to the platform.
The service functions both as a mobile app and on desktop, and is free to download. Users create a profile with personal, faith-based, education and professional information, and upload images that can be hidden from view if preferred.
Members then search the database by criteria including age, religiousness, occupation, country of origin, language and income. Once a search is complete, members can send instant messages to profiles that they feel are compatible.
Aside from serving a niche community, the app has some innovative features – the ‘Visitors’ facility allows users to see who has viewed their profile, and this serves as an icebreaker.
Looking to the future, CEO Adeem Younis says: “we currently get 1.4 million unique visitors per month, and are now ready for the journey to potentially reach over 200 million new members worldwide. We can now start building on our brands success in the UK market by taking it globally with the launch of our new app, initial feedback has been very positive and some people already saying that this is way forward for the Muslim Communities.”
