Female-focused social app Hey! VINA, which has been backed by Tinder, has just released a new Android app.
Hey! VINA works like a dating app but is for social connections between women – letting users browse through profiles of likeminded people, chat and organise to meet up.
Last September, Tinder announced it was working with the female social app by both investing in the social product and partnering with the company to help it scale.
The app’s parent company VINA also raised $1.4m in funding last July from New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Greenock Partners and Wildcat Venture Partners.
And now the app is releasing an Android app, after the company saw that half the traffic to its website was from Android devices.
Founder & CEO Olivia June Poole said: “Our goal is to help people find sisterhood and connection and helping them go through life.
“We want people to see that they have allies and have backup when they share their stories, and a shared connection in their experiences.”
So far the app has matched over 1m people, and is live in 158 countries.
