Zoosk Launches Gift-Giving Service
Zoosk have launched a feature that lets you send gifts to other members.
A “ship a gift” option has been added to user profiles, where you can choose from a selection of presents such as flowers, chocolates and teddy bears.
The recipient will then receive an email alert from Zoosk, telling them that someone wants to send them a gift.
From here, they can either decline, or accept by giving a shipping address.
Shayan Zadeh, co-founder and CEO of Zoosk, said: “When we created Zoosk, we set out to provide a service that helps single adults make real-world connections and build lasting relationships.
“Testing new ideas is part of Zoosk’s DNA and this particular feature allows singles to catch the attention of someone they find special.”
This service has been given a limited release, and is open to members living in most US states.
This move by Zoosk follows the lead of apps such as Korean couples service Between, which recently opened an e-commerce store, letting users buy items like accessories, jewellery or electronics from a gift shop.
Last week, 394m-strong messaging app WeChat also added a gift-giving feature, partnering with startup Giftpass.
This allows you to send gifts to anyone using WeChat, who receive a message with a QR code that they show at a store to claim their gift.
