JDate Founder Prepares To Launch New Jewish Dating App In US
The founder and architect of the world’s leading Jewish dating service, JDate, is preparing a US launch of a rival app in the same niche.
Jfiix is a smartphone dating app that wants to help Jewish people meet a life partner, and is arriving in the US market in the Jewish New Year.
The app was created by Joe Shapira, founder of JDate and its parent company Spark Networks, which describes itself as the “the most popular online Jewish dating community”.
Its parent company fiix is a dating chat app that allows users to chat with potential dates within their immediate vicinity, which was also founded by Shapira and three young entrepreneurs.
The app uses a Facebook-orientated activation method, ridding itself of the long-winded signup processes often used by modern dating apps, and is available at a cost-free membership.
Speaking about the new app, Shapira said: “Jfiix is the only Jewish dating app that combines the latest modern technology with the attention to detail of a more traditional dating website.
“We can help you find the love of your life, and we can do it quickly and easily. We consider this an exciting opportunity to further unite a younger generation of the Jewish community and slow down assimilation of its members.
“We recognise the extremely meaningful value of shared religious beliefs, but we also want to ensure that matches connect on other levels as well.”
Since launching in Israel 18 months ago, the app has acquired over 200,000 members.
Jfiix positions itself between the likes of JDate, which Shapira said is now deemed outdated and time-consuming by young adult users, and more generalised dating apps, such as Tinder.
It is confident it will enhance the relationship between the world’s two largest Jewish communities in Israel and the US, by providing a platform for the residents of both countries to connect with each other.
The app will soon be available to download for Apple and Android devices.
