Bumble Employees Receive Free Bi-Monthly Beauty Treatment
512tech have profiled the competitive perks that employees receive at Bumble’s Austin headquarters. When it opened, the office made UK headlines for its striking design.
Since 2017, Bumble’s staff have been receiving beauty care every other week. The free treatments include haircuts and blowouts, as well as manicures and pedicures.
Every member of the workforce can sign up for a half an hour slot and can even continue working during their treatment.
Maria Andrade, a part-time field marketing coordinator, told 512tech: “It’s really amazing that right now I was doing work, but also getting my hair done.
“Being able to multitask and still feel really empowered and really beautiful — that is something that I feel like most companies wouldn’t take the extra effort to do.”
85% of Bumble’s 50+ employees are female, so the brand offers specialist perks for them like tampons, a nursing room and a breast pump voucher after giving birth. All employees also receive 16 weeks of paid parental leave.
Catered lunches are available Monday-Thursday, and breakfast is provided on Fridays. Beer and Kombucha tea are also available on tap.
There is no specific dress code and staff can arrive as late, or leave as early as they want, provided all their work gets done.
Tareen Alam, Bumble’s social media manager, explained to 512tech: “I feel like here we’re all held accountable and we’re trusted.
“There’s a lot of autonomy and freedom here, which I think allows for a lot of the creatives here to actually flourish.”
Sadly, Bumble has to provide round-the-clock security to its HQ, after its workers’ personal details were leaked by a cyber-attack, conducted by a Neo-Nazi group.
