Hinge has launched a ‘Virtual Date Night Kit’, to help couples set the mood and have a romantic night in despite being separated from their partner.
The dating app teamed up with Uncommon Goods, an online marketplace that specialises in unique gifts and experiences, to create the mixology product. They’re available in the US for $30 and come with a redemption code so the buyer’s partner can get a second kit for free.
Each package includes the basic ingredients for making up to eight cocktails or mocktails, step-by-step instructions, drink stirrers and a stainless steel jigger. The only thing recipients need to provide is their own alcohol.
A series of conversation starters will also be provided, for those couples who are perhaps in the early stages of their journey.
Despite an impressive vaccine rollout and lockdown restrictions starting to be lifted, many singles still believe that virtual dates are the way forward for now. According to Hinge data, one-third of their members are open to being exclusive with someone they haven’t met in-person yet.
At the start of the pandemic, Hinge users were very sceptical about having a video call with someone they didn’t know. However, 80% of those who plucked up the courage to give it ago found it wasn’t awkward and they felt comfortable talking for much longer than they expected.
The ‘Hinge Labs’ research team is continually analysing dating behaviour to help singles make the most of their interactions. It recently released the ‘What Works Guides’, in-app tools that claim to reveal the secret formula of successful daters.
