Katch: Irish Video Speeding Dating App
Katch is a video speeding dating app which hosts events for singles across the UK, Ireland and Sweden. In addition to a speed-dating element, Katch events also include live streams from content creators and entertainers, creating the feeling of meeting new people at a gig.
A Katch event will have a host that guides users through the experience, as singles get split into private video chats that last two minutes (which can be mutually extended). The platform explains that this is a chilled way of getting people to connect.
Similar to the experience of meeting someone at a gig where someone is performing live, these virtual events provide the opportunity for users to connect while enjoying an entertainer performing.
When a user comes across someone who catches their interest, they can press on the ‘heart’ icon to let them know. The user will then be able to message their new connection privately, even after the event has finished.
In addition to the dating experience, Katch also offers content creators a method of monetising their talents. It encourages people to apply to become an Event Creator, which means they can charge users who choose to attend and mingle at their events.
