Millionaire Dating App Luxy to Accept Bitcoin as Payment

Last week, Luxy announced that it will now accept cryptocurrencies, starting with Bitcoin, as a form of payment.

The Hong Kong-based startup matches business individuals who share a luxurious lifestyle.

A minimum yearly salary of £200,000 is required to become a member of Luxy, and all users have to verify their incomes before using the app. 41% of its users apparently earn more than $1 million a year.

If users choose not to declare their income on the app, they have to enter a vouching process, which will then allow other Luxy members to screen certain applicants and vote them in or out of the app.

More than 50% of new applicants have been refused by existing members, and if you under 50% approval after 24 hours, you are then unable to join the platform.

Luxy Co-founder and CEO, Tim T wrote in an email to VentureBeat saying: “The main purpose of introducing crypto was to align ourselves with the current lifestyles of the successful entrepreneurs and business people within our community.”

He added: “As people are becoming increasingly successful by means of investment in crypto and involvement in blockchain, we may well see an increase in highly skilled engineers and scientists who have found success as a result of blockchain.”
