OkCupid Wants Male Participants For New Dating Show

OkCupid is going to present a new dating television show on a national US morning program in early 2020.

Details of the project are still very sparse, such as which program it is in collaboration with, but it is known that the segments will be hosted by Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Hobley.

The online dating service is currently advertising on LinkedIn to find single men to be involved. Participants, who must be based in either New York, New Jersey or Connecticut, fill out a short form that provides basic information like age and job title.

As part of the application process, people need to write a few short sentences giving their likes and dislikes and stating what they are looking for.

Several other dating apps have been creating their own video content to get users meeting in real life. Badoo Dating SOS featured a single woman going on dates with two men before choosing which one she thought she was most compatible with.

The Meet Group is putting its own unique spin on the format with the launch of NextDate, a livestreaming game that puts users on 90 second dates from the comfort of their own home. Viewers can watch the interactions and get involved by voting for whether or not they think the pairing is a good one.

The revolutionary Swipe Night show from Tinder connected users who made the same decisions throughout an interactive story, leading to a 26% increase in matches.

After welcoming approximately 1.5 million new Indian users over the past 12 months, OkCupid is seeking similar growth in the Middle East by starting a marketing push in the new year.
