Trueflutter: The Nigerian Dating App Curing Loneliness
Trueflutter is a Nigerian dating app founded by brothers Dare and Ayo Olatoye. They started by hosting large-scale speed dating events, but shifted into the digital space after the Covid-19 pandemic struck.
The platform provides online dating tools as well as private matchmaking features for singles who are more privacy-minded. Before being connected with a private matchmaker, users must first complete a virtual consultation.
Trueflutter’s aim is to connect Nigerian singles with compatible people from across the diaspora, reports Techpoint Africa.
The platform is the first dating app in Africa to have audio features available for user profiles. Beyond that, it also has a number of innovative premium features available for paying members.
These include the ability to become invisible on the app, the option of changing location, and the sending of ‘Flutters’, which are the platform’s version of ‘super-likes’.
Looking ahead, Trueflutter is looking for additional funds for continued growth in 2023. It’s already set up marketing teams in South Africa and Kenya ahead of expansion into these countries.
“We have over 40,000 organic subscribers from Kenya alone. And we’ve had a lot from South Africa, so that’s why we’re hitting those markets”, explained Dare, the app’s CEO.
So far the platform has 250,000 subscribers, with the goal of hitting 1 million members by the end of this year.
