WooPlus, the popular dating app for curvy singles, has added a new video feature to try and bring more fun to the online dating experience.
The ‘Emoji Challenge’ requires daters to film a short video mimicking the facial expressions of a number of emojis that appear on the screen. Anyone who successfully completes the challenge will get a virtual badge to display on their profile.
The badge not only indicates that the user is actively engaging with the app and has a good sense of humour, but it also shows they aren’t a catfish account because they’ve completed a verification process.
Neil Raman, founder and CEO of WooPlus, explained in a statement: “The pandemic has made a huge impact on human interaction and online dating. People tend to combine short videos with online dating, which is more fun than swiping or browsing pictures.
“For years, WooPlus has been an inclusive platform for them, and will constantly present more features to guarantee that.”
With the COVID-19 pandemic causing the majority of dating activities to take place online, companies across the industry introduced a variety of virtual features. They are also prioritising short-form video to appeal to the younger generation of native TikTok users.
Tinder recently revealed its biggest ever redesign, which included video profiles as part of the update. It also said that many more video features are coming in the future.
WooPlus passed five million users at the end of 2020 and empowers its community to feel confident and attractive in their bodies.
