Date.app and Shag.co.uk Domain Names Purchased

Domain Name Wire has noted the sale of two dating-based end user domain names in its most recent bulletin roundup.

Tuner Media, a Madrid-based creative studio, purchased Date.app for €5,000, but at the time of writing the domain still leads to a dead-end.

The acquisition was potentially done on behalf of one of Tuner Media’s clients. It has previously worked with several well-known brands such as Microsoft, Spotify and Coca-Cola.

Also, Shag.co.uk was picked up for £2,000 by an online dating company which appears to be THE PERFECT MATCH LTD from Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Development of the website, a simplistic hookup service, is underway. However, despite a new ‘Shag’ logo being prominently displayed on the homepage, some of the copy currently references a product called No Strings Attached.

There is also an affiliate link that redirects to website FlirtyCash.com, an affiliate marketing company that specialises in dealing with online dating platforms.

Elsewhere, Matrimony.com has just been granted an interim injunction against Kalyan Matrimony. This was after claims that the competitors have been violating the Matrimony.com trademark by registering similar domain names.

French GBTQ dating site Gaymec successfully recovered its .info domain last month from a company that was using it to direct traffic to a similar website.
