Match Group Removes 44 Spam Accounts Every Minute

Match Group has shared that 44 spam accounts get removed every minute across its portfolio of dating apps. Between January and March 2023, nearly 5 million spam and bot accounts were removed during or just after the sign-up process.

“We are continuously enhancing our spam prevention tools to help make them more effective, while also making investments in machine learning, both which we view as essential for Match Group to help maintain a safer service for our users around the world,” said Jess Johnson, Match Group’s Director of Safety Product.

“By implementing a combination of technology, human moderation, and user education to encourage reporting of suspicious activity, we are able to help remove the vast majority of spam at sign up or before a user ever sees it”, she added.

Tinder, Match Group’s most popular dating platform, has launched a number of Trust & Safety initiatives throughout 2023 so far. These include the Incognito Mode option, video selfie verification, and the banning of social media handles in profile bios.
