RealMe Partners With M14 Industries to Improve User Trust and Safety
RealMe has announced a new partnership with M14 Industries, a white label provider that helps entrepreneurs launch their own dating apps, to provide the company with extra protection against fraud and scams.
By June 2021, users of M14’s flagship brand Bristlr, online dating for people with beards and beard lovers, will be able to verify profiles and access important background information.
The tools are expected to be introduced to the rest of the portfolio, including TBC, Lawyr and Geek Meet, in the coming months.
RealMe partners gain visibility to 275 million verified Reputation Profiles containing criminal and court records, lawsuits, sex offender status, social profile details, personal reviews, and more.
Jeff Tinsley, founder and CEO of RealMe, explained in a statement: “We are honored to have M14 Industries join in our commitment to building a safer and more trustworthy environment for members of dating apps and sites.
“Since the pandemic, more people than ever are dating online. Unfortunately, there has also been an equally sharp increase in online dating fraud and scams. RealMe provides dating app users greater peace of mind by sharing the truth about the people they are engaging with online.”
Romance scams are on the rise and singles in the US were tricked into paying over $304 million in 2020, a 50% increase from the year before.
An FTI Consulting and RealMe survey from May last year found that over a quarter of respondents have been conned out of money by someone with a fraudulent profile.
